New Immunization Requirements for 2018
Updated on 02/28/2018
Effective July 1, 2018: ALL students in preschool through twelfth grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school. These doses are given 6 months apart. If the 2nd dose of Hepatitis A is not due when school starts then the student will be permitted to start if a new immunization certificate has been submitted that reflects the date of the vaccine. The second dose must be administered and an updated immunization certificate reflecting it submitted to the school within 2 weeks of the vaccine’s due date. Students ages 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal ACWY vaccine to attend school. If the first dose of MenACWY was received at age sixteen, the second dose is not required for school entry.

Superintendent's Message

Welcome back Pulaski County to another exciting school year!  Our successes continue and I expect even bigger and better things for 2017-2018.

Districtwide, our schools remain at the forefront in state assessment as well as leaders in providing our students a wide range of academic and athletic opportunities through which we receive many state and national awards.

We have worked to add even more amazing opportunities to further prepare our students for future success.  For our youngest learners, we have additional new math teachers for our K-3 students; additional art and music teachers; and expanded science curriculums to further strengthen our award winning PLTW science programs.  For our emerging young adults, we have established partnerships with more colleges and universities for dual enrollment and college credit; are engaging students in apprenticeship programs to experience potential professions firsthand; and are expanding the Area Technology Center for more specialized training in career pathways.

Pulaski County Schools will again be using #iLearnPulaski days when school is closed but circumstances allow teachers to either deliver instruction digitally or through paper packets. Students are to complete their work in order for the day to count as an instructional day so make sure you look for information from your school about #iLearnPulaski days.

I encourage you to be actively involved with your child’s learning. Parents are valued partners in our schools.  You are always welcome and I hope you plan to visit your child’s school often.  I know you will like what you see.

With the many excellent programs Pulaski County Schools has to offer, our students are poised to achieve as never before. This excites me and I hope everyone has a great year!

Steve Butcher, Superintendent
