Curriculum and Instruction

Marlene Haney, Assistant Superintendent, facilitates the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program and the Kentucky Principal Internship Program for new staff members, and also serves as the School Based Decision Making contact, Professional Development Coordinator including Leadership Development for administrators, and Americorp Coordinator. Haney also is responsible for placing student teachers and administering the district employment screening instrument (Perceiver) to perspective teachers. Executive secretary Libby Erp.

The department has three supervisors of curriculum and instruction, one for elementary, middle, and high school. Carole Hancock is Secondary Supervisor and Carl Perkins Coordinator, which funds some vocational education programming at the high school level. Hancock is also District Assessment Coordinator responsible for all assessment and testing programs throughout the district. Hancock is supported by Carylon Burdine.

Ginna Hess is Middle School Supervisor, Health and Physical Education Supervisor for all schools, Title IV Regular and 30% grant which focuses on safe schools and preventative services, and the Regional Service Center Arts and Humanities contact.  Lisa Colyer serves as Writing Consultant for the district.  She is responsible for providing training in writing instruction and analysis of student work. K-12.

Margaret Mauney serves as Kindergarten/Elementary Supervisor. In addition to the curriculum aspect, Mauney serves as K-5 Competitive Grants Coordinator for multiple grants including Class-size Reduction, Accelerated Schools, Early Reading Incentive, Goals 2000, and Commonwealth Schools Improvement Fund. Mauney leads the Pulaski Leadership Academy for new intern teachers and their resource teachers and is Title II coordinator which is funding for math/science professional development. She is supported by Pam Goff.

Teresa Nicholas is the District Technology Coordinator responsible for the integration of technology into classroom instruction. Nicholas also serves as the District Library Media Coordinator. Nicholas is supported by Pam Goff.

Chris Cothron is Director of the Adult Education and Literacy and Family Literacy Programs as well as supervisor for the curriculum specialists. Cothron also coordinates the textbook purchasing process for the district. She is supported by Pam Goff.

Alfrieda Daulton is Director of Special Education Programs, 504 Coordinator, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance officer, and Supervisor of the Medicaid Reimbursement Billing Program. Daulton is also Supervisor of the Preschool Program overseen by Phyllis Turpen who is the district-wide preschool liaison and is based at Memorial Education Center. As director of this area, Daulton currently supervises four School Psychologists, an Occupational Therapist, two Occupational Therapy Assistants, a Physical Therapist, a Physical Therapy Assistant, and two Itinerant Speech Aids. In addition, there are 12 school-based speech therapists and 8 special education liaisons who provide special education services.  Kathy Epperson serves as special education department administrative assistant. Daulton is supported by Denise Blevins.

Mardi Montgomery serves as District-wide Title I/Program Supervisor. Her responsibilities include several K-12 Programs including Extended School Services, Title I, Gifted and Talented, Arts and Humanities, and serves as the district and schools Consolidated Plan Facilitator.
