I. ACTION ITEMS
- A. OATH OF OFFICE NEWLY ELECT MEMBERS: Judge Debra Lambert administered the oath of office to returning board member Helen Hansford and new board member Bill White.
- B. ORGANIZATION OF THE BOARD
- 1. ELECT CHAIRPERSON: Board elected Philip Wilson
- 2. ELECT VICE-CHAIRPERSON: Board elected Helen Hansford
- 3. SET DATE/TIME OF 2003 REGULAR MEETINGS: Date/Time of meetings will remain the same.
- C. ADOPT AGENDA: Adopted agenda as presented.
II. RECOGNITION
- A. GOOD CHARACTER SALUTE RECIPIENTS: Honored compassion recipients, Kelly and Betty Inabinett from Eubank Elementary and Emily Castle from Burnside Elementary.
- B. SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION: Held recognition activities for school board members. Several schools sent card and students from Nancy and Shopville presented.
III. COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS
- A. SCHOOL RENOVATIONS/ADDITIONS: Ed Cook reported Pulaski Elementary roof replacement currently underway and Southwestern HS baseball/softball facilities delayed due to weather.
- B. CERTIFIED/CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL ACTIONS: reported to board
- C. STUDENT DROPOUT: Dropout rate remains at 1%. No dropouts reported in the past month.
- D. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT: Heard winter academy report from Mrs. Haney.
IV. ACTION ITEMS WITH DISCUSSION
- A. TREASURER'S REPORT/AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF BILLS: Approved
- B. BOARD MEETING MINUTES DECEMBER 10, 2002: Approved minutes from previous meeting.
- C. REVIEW OF ANTICIPATED REVENUES & EXPENDITURES FOR 2003- 2004 SCHOOL YEAR: Bill Boyd presented anticipated scenario for upcoming school year as “bleak”. Board will meet in working session before next months meeting in preparation of 2003-2004 budget.
