I. AGENDA: Adopted as presented.
II. RECOGNITION
- GOOD CHARACTER RECIPIENTS: Recognized initiative recipients, student Sara Turney from Southwestern High School and adult recipient, Dana Isaacs from Shopville Elementary School. Also, acknowledged October as Character Education month. We will celebrate with special events in the media and in our schools throughout the month with our annual Feud-for- Food drive being the month finale. Recognized character education coaches from each school and presented them with a gift of appreciation.
- WOODSTOCK ELEMENTARY: Recognized Woodstock Elementary principal, Julie Cottrell and 4th grade teacher, Judy Dykes for receiving the first “100” score in the district in reading and math CATS assessment.
III. COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS
- CERTIFIED/CLASSIFIED/PERSONNEL ACTIONS: Reported to Board
- DROP OUT REPORT: .5%
- SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: Superintendent Tim Eaton discussed CATS assessment results, an increase in participation of fall academy from last year, and the physical education grant which will be used for middle school and high school professional development and the purchase of fitness equipment.
IV. ACTION ITEMS WITH DISCUSSION
- TREASURER’S REPORT/AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF BILLS: Approved
- AUDIT 2002-2003 SCHOOL YEAR: Approved. Our district received the best audit in the last 10 years with no findings whatsoever. Bookkeepers at the school level were recognized for excellent performance.
- CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS CONTRACT PROPOSAL: Approved a technology contract to upgrade the entire system for speed and capability.
- CREATE/AMEND/ABOLISH PERSONNEL POSITIONS: Approved 5 new media assistant positions among others.
- CHANGE ORDER #7 PCHS PHASE VI: Approved for $6,983.

- PULASKI DAY TREATMENT MAIL SYSTEM/PITNEY BOWES LEASE: Approved
- APPROVE/DECLARE SURPLUS PROPERTY/TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT: Approved. Declared multiple computers, tables, chairs, and various property for sealed bid. Contact Shelley Todd for details.
- SECOND READING 2003 BOARD POLICY UPDATE #26: Approved multiple policies. Contact Libby Erp for copies.
- 2003 BOARD POLICY PROCEDURE UPDATE #7: Approved multiple procedure updates. Contact Libby Erp for copies.
- ADDENDUM TO LOCAL APPROVED VENDORS LIST: Added Cumberland Gallery, Sign-A-Rama, and Trade Park Rentals.
- OUT OF STATE TRIP REQUEST: Approved out of state trip for Northern Middle School.
