  1. GOOD CHARACTER RECIPIENTS: Recognized adaptability recipients, student Samantha Oakes from Nancy Elementary School and adult recipient, Amal Clor from Southwestern High School.

III. COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS

  1. CERTIFIED/CLASSIFIED/PERSONNEL ACTIONS: Reported to Board
  2. DROP OUT REPORT: .9%
  3. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: Superintendent Tim Eaton presented the board with the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan; discussed the parent and community involvement report and complemented parents on continued involvement; discussed scheduling joint meetings between the Board and local Site Based Decision Making Councils; discussed information from the state superintendent conference; and discussed the local Pritchard Committee parents group that is advocating for the school systems.

IV. ACTION ITEMS WITH DISCUSSION

  1. TREASURER’S REPORT/AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF BILLS: Approved
  2. CREATE/AMEND/ABOLISH PERSONNEL POSITIONS: Approved a total of 3 positions for new teachers at Oak Hill Elementary, Nancy Elementary and Eubank Elementary.
  3. ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION OPTION: Approved a program for 16-18 year old students at high risk for drop out. Principals have details.
  4. BG-1 NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN MIDDLE GYMS: Approved renovation to include air conditioning of gymnasiums.
  5. CHANGE ORDER (8) PCHS PHASE VI: Approved change order for $4324.
  6. CHANGE ORDER SOUTHERN ELEM. ELECTRICAL RENOVATION: Approved change order for $4616.
  7. WORKMEN’S COMPENSATION INSURANCE VENDOR: Approved KSBIT $320,311.

  2. EARLY GRADUATION REQUESTS: Approved
  3. PERMISSION TO BID AUDITING CONTRACT 2004, 05, & 06: Approved
  4. PERMISSION TO BID SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPH CONTRACTS: Approved
  5. PERMISSION TO DECLARE SURPLUS PROPERTY: Approved. Declared various exercise equipment, 3 air conditioning units, and 16 cafeteria tables as surplus.
  6. ADDENDUM TO LOCAL APPROVED LIST OF VENDORS: Added “The Clay House”, Big Blue Septic Service and Area Plumbing to the approved list of vendors.
  7. AMERICORP/STUDENT SERVICE CONSORTIUM CENTER CONTRACT 2004-05: Approved
  8. REVIEW TITLE IV ASSURANCE (S 4155): Approved assurance to transfer student discipline actions to any requesting schools.
  9. CUSTODIAL BID AWARD: Awarded multiple vendors.
  10. PHYSICAL THERAPY CONTRACT: Contract to Cindy Jones with Rockcastle Hospital.
  11. SCHOOLWIDE FUND RAISING REQUEST: Approved fund raising request for Pulaski Central.
  12. OUT OF STATE TRIP REQUEST: Approved Southwestern Conversation Club request; Approved Southwestern Cheerleading trip.
VI. EXECUTIVE SESSION KRS 61.810 (1) (f) STUDENT HEARING: Met in executive session for a student hearing. VII. ADJOURN
