REGULAR MEETING: April 13, 2004

I. ADOPT AGENDA: Adopted agenda with change.

II. RECOGNITION

  1. GOOD CHARACTER RECIPIENTS: Recognized optimism recipients, student Mariah Sullivan from Nancy Elementary School and adults Liz Messenger, Donnell Rainwater, Rita Cochran, Tracy Hadley, Teresa Cowan and Linda Hensley from Southern Elementary School.
  2. THE GRANDPARENT OF THE YEAR ESSAY WINNER: Recognized Burnside Elementary 5th grade student Autumn Dawn Littrell as the state winner of the AARP/KTRS Grandparent of the Year Essay Contest. Autumn was also recently recognized in Louisville in front of over 440 members of the AARP and KTRS.

III. COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS

  2. STUDENT DROP OUT REPORT: 1.7%
  3. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: Superintendent Tim Eaton reported that spring academy enrollment was the highest ever with an average of 1,085 students attending including our first ESL session; Still no budget from Legislation; Pulaski Elementary School has been awarded a $10,000 grant to enhance student achievement sponsored by Kingsford Charcoal Manufacturing Co. ordering new computers for their computer lab with the funding; Summer academy will be a Tuesday through Friday academy rather than the full week.

  1. TREASURER’S REPORT/AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF BILLS: Approved
  2. SCHOOL CALENDAR 2003-2004: Amended calendar officially making May 21st the last day for students.

V. ACTION ITEMS BY CONSENT

  1. MINUTES MARCH 9, 2004: Approved
  2. 2004-2005 NONRESIDENT STUDENT CONTRACTS: Approved, no changes
  3. AUDIT CONTRACT 2003-2004: Approved for White and Associates, PSC
  4. SECTION 125-CAFETERIA PLAN: Approved
  5. ATHLETIC TRAINING AGREEMENT 2004-2005: Approved for Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital
  6. DECLARE SURPLUS PROPERTY: Declared 6 computers, 15 servers, 6 printers and various other technology items as surplus property.
  7. RESOLUTION TO DECLARE SURPLUS SCHOOL BUSES: Approved
  8. SCHOOLWIDE FUND RAISING ACTIVITY: Approved fund raising activity for Oak Hill Elementary.
  9. EARLY GRADUATION REQUESTS: Approved

VI. EXECUTIVE SESSION

  1. PENDING LITIGATION KRS 61.810 (1) (C): Met in executive session. No action taken.
