REGULAR MEETING: January 11, 2005

I. ACTION ITEMS

  1. OATH OF OFFICE
    1. NEWLY ELECT MEMBERS: Phillip Wilson and Betty Richards sworn in.
  2. ORGANIZATION OF THE BOARD
    1. ELECT CHAIRPERSON: Phillip Wilson elected as Chairperson
    2. ELECT VICE-CHAIRPERSON: Helen Hansford elected as Vice-Chair
    3. SET DATE/TIME OF 2005 - JANUARY 2006 REGULAR MEETINGS: Board meetings set for Tuesday after the second Monday of each month at 5:00 in the Central Office Boardroom.

II. RECOGNITION

  1. GOOD CHARACTER SALUTES: Recognized Compassion recipients, student Evan Sutton from Pulaski County High School and adult recipient, ESL teacher Maria Pyles from Pulaski Elementary.
  2. READ TO ACHIEVE RECIPIENTS: Recognized Read to Achieve grant recipients: Pulaski Elementary, Woodstock Elementary and Shopville Elementary. Also recognized grant writers Margaret Mauney (facilitator), Shannon Dick, Wendy Hampton, Betty Alexander and Lori Phelps.
  3. SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION/RECOGNITION: Staff and students presented board members with tokens of appreciation in recognition of School Board Appreciation Month.

III. COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS

  1. CERTIFIED/CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL ACTIONS: Reported to Board.
  2. STUDENT DROP-OUT REPORT: 1.7%
  3. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: Items discussed included: Health grant, Community art displays of student work, Southwestern High School met CATS accountability goal after recalculation, Average winter academy attendance was 739 and the upcoming legislative session.

IV. ACTION ITEMS APPROVED WITH DISCUSSION

  1. TREASURER’S REPORT, AUTHORIZE PAYMENT OF BILLS: Approved
  2. REVIEW OF ESTIMATED REVENUES & EXPENDITURES 2005-2006: Approved

V. ACTION ITEMS APPROVED BY CONSENT

  1. MINUTES DECEMBER 14, 2004: Approved
  2. SECTION 125 PLAN DOCUMENT REVISION-CAFETERIA PLAN AMENDMENT: Approved
  3. SURPLUS PROPERTY DECLARATION: Declared various technology equipment as surplus property.
  4. OUT OF STATE TRIP REQUEST: Approved out of state trip request for Southwestern High School Conservation Club.
  5. RENEWAL-STUDENT ATHLETIC/ACCIDENT INSURANCE: Approved
  6. ADDENDUM TO 2004-05 LOCAL APPROVED VENDORS BID: Added Mark
  7. Atkins Septic Company to approved vendors list.
