II. RECOGNITION
- Taylor Cooper, Reading Rainbow: Pulaski Elementary 2nd grade student Taylor Cooper’s book “Making A friend” won the second grade division at the 13th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators local contest. She will represent Kentucky at the Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska for her writings and art work.
- Northern Middle Academic Team: The Future Problem Solving Teams for Northern Middle School placed first in the KAAC State Finals held in Louisville on March 17-19, 2007. Five out of seven events have advanced to the Future Problem Solving Program International Conference to be held at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO on May 23-June 3, 2007. The Community Problem Solving Team had four projects competing at the state finals and all four projects will also be advancing to international competition.
- PRISM Recipients: Recognized Elementary level PRISM recipients
Amber Ross from Shopville Elementary and Tara Wesley from Nancy Elementary,
High School level recipient Scott McAnich from Pulaski County High School
and Administrative level recipient Billy Norris, Shopville Elementary
principal.
III. COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS
- Certified/Classified/Approved Volunteers Personnel Actions: Reported to Board.
- Student Drop Out Report: 1.8%
- Superintendent’s Report: Superintendent Tim Eaton reported that the 8 elementary schools, 2 middle and 2 high schools received Accreditation Certificates for having met all accreditation requirements for 2007 in accordance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Kentucky Council on Accreditation and School Improvement; spring academy was successful with ACT Prep and Advanced Placement offerings provided; the education bill “No Pass, No Drive” will be re-instated; and a 1.5 deficit placed Pulaski County Schools just under the mark from being placed in the Top Quartile of the 2006 KCCT Accountability Index.

- Certified/Classified Salary Schedules
2007-2008: Salary schedules for the 2007-2008 school year were approved in
accordance with provisions of HB 380 from the 2007 budget sessions.
Certified employees received an increase to each cell of the certified
salary schedule by $3,000. Teachers received two additional contract days
from 185 to 187 days. High school principals received an increase of
extended days by 10 and middle school principals by 5
days. Classified employees received a 5% across the board pay raise not to exceed a cap of $2,500. Classified employees having 25 years received a first ever 20 cent bump. Cafeteria employees are increased to Grade 3 from a Grade 2. A middle school band stipend was added for the first time. An additional full time counselor was added to each of the two high schools bringing the total to three full time counselors for each high school. - School Calendars 2007-2008: Approved. V. ACTION ITEMS APPROVED BY CONSENT
- Emergency Certification for Teachers and Substitute Teachers S/Y 2007-2008: Approved
- Early Graduation Requests: Approved
- Declare Surplus Property: Declared various classroom and office furniture and technology
VI. EXECUTIVE SESSION KRS 61.810 (1) (C) PENDING LITIGATION: Board met in Executive Session.
