  1. School Volunteers of the Year Appreciation: Recognized District Volunteers of the Year, Donnie Burdine (Burnside Elementary), Charley Mahoney (Eubank Elementary), Melissa Haste and Renee Smith (Memorial Education Center), Nina & Rodney Whitaker (Nancy Elementary), Shelly Jenkins (Northern Middle), Tara Price (Oak Hill Elementary), Amy Phipps (Pulaski County High School), Ginny McIver (Pulaski Elementary), Angela Chaney (Shopville Elementary), Martha Loveless (Southern Elementary), Kimm Merrick (Southern Middle), Patty Tapp (Southwestern High School), and Rachel Thompson (Woodstock Elementary).
  2. Engineering Expo Winners: Recognized District 1st place winner, Somer Schmidt from Pulaski Elementary for “Convert-a-Step”; 2nd place, Molly Smith from Eubank Elementary for “Wind is our Friend”; and 3rd place, Ashley Wahlman from Oak Hill Elementary for “Desalination of Salt Water”. Also recognized finalists Hannah Phelps (Pulaski Elementary), Daniel Mink (Shopville Elementary), Matthew New (Burnside Elementary), Austin Gilbert (Woodstock Elementary), Casey Jones (Burnside Elementary), Aaron Norton (Oak Hill Elementary), Trevor Ridner (Southern Elementary), Shea Minton (Nancy Elementary) and Raelyn Perry (Eubank Elementary).
  3. Pulaski Elementary ‘STLP State Champs’: Recognized Laura Hancock, Lauren Murphy, Lauren Tranthem and Taylor Cooper for winning the state title in the Student Technology Leadership Program.
  4. District Math Grant Writers: Janel Grider, Pam Strunk, Hannah Vaught, Lisa
    Black and Angela Spears were recognized for grant writing awards of $60,000 to $70,000 for math interventions for Burnside, Eubank, Nancy and Oak Hill Elementary Schools.
  5. Pulaski Elementary ‘Region 23 Governor’s Cup Champions’: Pulaski Elemen- tary students Kelli Blount, Bradley Correll, Dakota Garrett, Laura Hancock, Lindsy Jasper, Allison Kerns, William McIver, James Mulligan, Kevin Neal, Brett Phelps, Hannah Phelps, Jacob Roberts, CeCe Roberts, Carlee Smith, Miranda Surber and Mollie Yanders won the Region 23 Governor’s Cup. They compiled a score of over 30 points beating 18 other regional schools.
  6. Area Technology Center, ‘First Place State Skills USA Welding’: Jordan Harris (PCHS senior) having placed first among 14 other state high schools in the USA welding competition, will advance to Nationals June 26th in Kansas City, Missouri
  7. PRISM Recipient: Recognized SWHS Media Specialist, Charity Edwards

  2. Student Drop-Out Report: 2.2%
  3. Superintendent’s Report: Superintendent Tim Eaton spoke briefly on how the district will meet challenges of having fewer resources imposed from funding cuts
    1. Iowa Test Scores, Carole Hancock: Presented test scores from 3rd grade data of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills compared by district and by individual schools.

  1. Treasurer’s Report/Authorize Payment of Bills: Approved
  2. Create/Amend/Abolish Personnel Positions: Created 4 math intervention positions for Burnside, Eubank, Nancy and Oak Hill schools due to grant funding.
  3. Tentative Working Budget 2008-2009: Approved
  4. District Salary Schedule 2008-2009: Approved a 1% increase
  5. BG-1 Southwestern High Addition/Renovation: Approved new addition to include expansion of cafeteria, new standard classrooms, a new science lecture/lab, STEM classrooms and a new computer lab for a total estimated cost of $9,560,000.
  6. BG-3, Nancy Elementary Partial Roof Replacement: Approved
