- Personnel Actions Certified/Classified/Approved District Volunteers: Reported to board
- Superintendent’s Report: Superintendent Tim Eaton thanked the
Board, principals and staff for their hard work making noted improvements.
- Assessment Report, Carole Hancock: Carole Hancock, District Assessment
Coordinator, provided highlights from the 2008 CATS testing:
- 9 out of 12 schools met their biennium goal
- Of the schools labeled “progressing,” 2 of the 3 scored above state average
- Highest score was Woodstock in Science at 135, of a possible 140
- Burnside had 6 content areas above 100 followed by Woodstock with 5
- Southwestern High School saw double digit gains in every area except reading
- Arts and Humanities exceeded 100 at 106 to rank them #23 of 201
- Southwestern had a gain of 13.6 points, the largest improvement in the state
- At the elementary level, 20 scores were above 100
- The district exceeded the state goal of 83.6 at 84.7
- The district exceeded the state average of 82
- All levels show continuous improvement over time
- The district state ranking for a combined index went from 78th to 51st

- Treasurer’s Report/Authorize Payment of Bills: Approved
- Create/Amend/Abolish Personnel Positions: Approved creation of 2 new personnel positions for Special Ed Aides at Pulaski Elementary.
- Set Tax Rates for 2008-2009: Real Estate 45.5 (same rate levied in 2007), Personal Property 46.1 (less than levied in 2007), Motor vehicle 50.3 and Utility 3.0%.
