Southern Elementary, awarded the Human Sportsmanship Award

  1. Pulaski County High 2009 Governor’s Cup State Champs, Future Problem Solving: Recognized Stephen Thompson, Zack Woolridge, Rossie Clark, Mark Cherry, Shelby Phelps and Kyle Godby. Shelby Phelps place first individually in the state in FPS.
     
  2. Northern Middle 2009 Governor’s Cup First Place, Community Problem Solving: Recognized students Cooper Gibson, Austin Gilbert, William McGiver and Matthew Whitis.
     
  3. Pulaski Gifted Center 2009 Engineering Expo Winners: Vice President for the Public Sector of Microsoft in Washington D.C., Teresa Hatfield Carlson provided presentation to six fifth grade students winning first, second, or third places in the 2009 Engineering Expo including Laura Hancock (Pulaski Elementary, DNA Fingerprinting), Molly Smith (Eubank Elementary, Biomedical ‘I Got My Eye On You’), Jacob Blevins (Shopville Elementary, Mechanical Arm), Alexis Lovins (Southern Elementary, Heart Murmurs), McKenzie Mullins (Southern Elementary , Lung on Comparison and Improving Life Span) and Casey Jones (Burnside Elementary, Lighting Generator for Improved Energy). Mrs. Carlson presented each student with Lenova IdeaPad S1oe Netbook.
     
  4. Nancy Elementary “Gifted Go Green” Presentation: NES students presented a skit demonstrating ways to preserve our environment
     
  5. PRISM Recipients: Recognized High School level recipient, Mischa Brainard from Southwestern High School and Middle School level recipient, Carolyn Baird from Northern Middle School.
     
  6. Board Member Completion of KSBA Academy of Studies Level I Certification: Recognized Board Member, Cindy Price with a certificate and a pin for completions of Level I and II from the KSBA Academy of studies.

  2. Superintendent’s Report
     
    1. Assessment, Carole Hancock: Testing will be accountable according to SB 1 as interim testing for the next 2 school years and will be based on core content. Revisions should be complete by December 2010.
    2. PACE – An Overview for the District and Schools: A self assessment conducted every March of all certified staff.

      Superintendent Eaton publically congratulated Mrs. Mounce and Burnside Elementary on their award of a $25,000 technology grant from Windstream. In addition, our technology department was one of 35 school districts receiving Enhancing Technology $60,000 grant.
