School Report Cards

View Our Schools Report Cards
Parents are used to getting report cards about their children-but now they will get a report card about the schools. The report cards provide information about how well our schools are doing, where we are succeeding, and where there is room for improvement. While they cannot tell everything about our performance, the report cards are a good starting point for discussions with our teachers, administrators, school council members, administrators, and school board members. It is intended to help open the lines of communication between the school, the homes of their students, and the local community.
“Our schools can use the School Report Cards as an outline for valuable conversations with parents and community groups,” said Superintendent Tim Eaton. “We want and need strong, positive relationships with our parents and community. The School Report Card gives parents and our community a tremendous amount of information that can help build these relationships of understanding. Understanding what is going on in our schools builds support for our work, and will help get everybody moving in the same direction.”
The School Report Cards will tell parents and the public how each school is doing on student achievement, in comparison with itself, the district, the state and the nation. They will also report attendance, dropout, retention, and transition rates; how qualified the teachers are; how safe the school is; and how per-pupil spending, student/teacher ratios and student/computer ratios stack up. In addition, the School Report Cards will tell how involved the parents are as well as give a rundown of extracurricular activities, awards and recognitions.
Unless noted, all data is from the last school year (2000-2001). Contact information and narratives reflect this year’s activities.
