our recipients of SALUTE TO GOOD CHARACTER for:
"LOYALTY"
Student of the Month Randy Glover, Area Technology Center
Adult of the Month Annette Lawrence, Eubank Elementary School
We will have a special recognition for Randy and Ms. Lawrence at the October Board Meeting.
Area Technology Center Randy Glover
Randy Glover was an ATC student during his 10th grade year. His schedule would not allow him to return as a junior and it was questionable as to whether or not he would be able to return for his senior year. During the spring enrollment sessions, Randy expressed his desire to return and asked us to help him with his enrollment. We were able to work it out and he has been an exemplary student. The ATC is under severe budget constraints this year that threatens to impact the shop work students are able to perform. When Randy found out about the situation, he secured a substantial donation of building materials for the Carpentry Shop and delivered them to Mr. Huckaby. His loyalty to the ATC is evident in all of his actions and we are very proud to have him as a student.
Eubank Elementary School Annette Lawrence
I could not let this go by without saying that whenever I think of the word LOYAL I think of Annette Lawrence, our school librarian.
Every year she amazes me with her loyalty to continue to give to her school and her students. She is able to provide not only great reading material to her classes by working hard to obtain new books each chance she gets. She also puts on the book fair and manages the AR testing with everything else is just awesome! I don't know how she is able to keep up with all that she does.
I know that she puts so much effort into these programs because she loves our school and she is loyal to always provide for our kids. We sometimes take things for granted and just don't realize how hard it is to juggle it all. It takes a lot of loyalty to be able to continue year after year with all of these programs. Mrs. Lawrence provides them and does it with pleasure. Another thing that is possible with Mrs. Lawrence is the literacy bell. These kids work so hard to be able to go with Mrs. Lawrence to ring the bell. She makes each of them feel so special and what an honor to get to share that with her. I got goose bumps the time that I got to go with her.
Mrs. Lawrence also spends many late evenings and weekends working on the WEES News broadcasts. She makes sure that every child in the 5th grade gets to experience each of the five roles of the TV Studio.
Her loyalty to our students is deeply rooted which is demonstrated in the other commitments such as the Box Tops for Education. This takes lots of effort on her part, but it has generated several hundred dollars for our school, to be invested in books for the students to check out in the library.
Thank you very much for considering Mrs. Lawrence and her loyalty to not only her school but to her friends.
