Mission, Goals, and Objectives
MISSION
The Pulaski County School District will provide and promote a physical and psychological learning environment that purposefully values giftedness and effectively addresses the needs, interests, and abilities of individual students.
GOALS
To provide each equitably identified student with a comprehensive Gifted Student Services Plan (GSSP) that is appropriately developed, implemented, and monitored to ensure the opportunity for continuous progress
To implement, by instruction and action, the state’s philosophy of gifted education
OBJECTIVES
IdentificationTo proactively and equitably identify gifted/talented students in areas designated by the Kentucky Department of Education Instruction
- To provide instruction differentiated for the individual
- To provide multiple methods of delivering services to identified students
- To engage students in an enriched learning experience
- To provide for student experiences beyond the limits of regular classroom instruction
- To address the social and emotional needs unique to G/T students
- To provide program information and involvement opportunities for the community
- To provide frequent and substantive communication to the parents of G/T students
- To seek input from parents and to enlist their support
- To ensure that the G/T staff members remain updated on regulations, policies, curricular materials, and instructional practices
- To staff each school with a G/T specialist/facilitator trained and focused on assessment, identification, collaboration, consultation, and direct instruction
- To provide regular education staff with consultative/collaborative services, materials, and training to effectively serve G/T students
- To ensure that school leaders are fully informed of specific requirements, activities, needs, materials, and achievements within the G/T program
- To ensure program compliance
- To address program needs through Comprehensive District/School Improvement Plans
- To develop, maintain, and manage accurate records
- To evaluate the program annually to determine data-based direction for the future
- To maintain focus on the program’s mission
