Pulaski County Title I School-wide Programs
Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), seeks to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged. Title I, Part A provides financial assistance through state educational agencies (SEAs) to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families to ensure that all children meet challenging state academic content and achievement standards.
In Pulaski County, the Title I program works to help schools meet Kentucky's learning goals, attain Kentucky's academic core concepts, coordinate resources to improve education for all students and support school reform efforts.
Title I school mini-budgets help fund the schools' strategies and activities. Title I district money provides technical assistance to the schools and professional development for their Title I staff. Title I funds also may be used for additional instructional staff, extended-time programs and other means of raising student achievement in our elementary schools.
