IMPORTANT SCHOOL BUS SAFETY ALERT
HELP US PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN
AS THEY TRAVEL TO AND FROM SCHOOL
Certain types of clothing can be caught in the bus handrail or door as the child gets off the bus. In recent years, a number of children across the US have been dragged by a bus because their clothing was caught. Please take time to check your child’s clothing to make sure it is safe.
Especially dangerous are:
- Long, dangling jacket or sweatshirt drawstrings
- Long backpack straps
- Long scarves or other loose clothing
Also, talk to your child about other bus safety rules such as:
- Never run to or from a bus
- Don’t push or shove
- Never crawl under a bus
- Cross at least 10 feet in front of the bus
- Watch out for other motorists. They don’t always stop
